Datenschutzerklärung
Stand: Oktober 2026
1. VERANTWORTLICHER
Matteo Herzel
Fanggasse 1 TOP12, 6067 Absam, Österreich
E-Mail: support@matchpoint.lol
Was Nutzer über andere eintragen:
4. WER WAS SIEHT
Aufzeichnungen an ÖTV-Auslosungen sehen alle Angemeldeten.
App (User-Agent) in Server-Protokollen.

Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 2026
This policy explains which personal data the MatchPoint app and the website matchpoint.lol process, for what purpose, and what rights you have. Section 3 also addresses players whose federation data appears in MatchPoint even though they do not use the app.
1. CONTROLLER
Matteo Herzel
Fanggasse 1 TOP12, 6067 Absam, Austria
Email: support@matchpoint.lol
2. DATA WE PROCESS
You need an account to use MatchPoint. We process:
- Account and sign-in — your email address and the one-time code we send you. If you sign in with Google or Apple, we receive the details you release there (name, email address; from Google also your profile photo if you do not have one yet). Apple may provide a relay address instead of yours.
- Profile — display name (required), optional profile photo, club and a short text about you, plus your in-app settings.
- Link to the ÖTV (optional) — your licence number, which we use to check that the player profile is yours; then from the federation portal your name, player number, licence details, club, federation, year of birth, sex and nationality, as well as your rating, rankings and matches. We use year of birth and sex to check which tournament and team championship events fit you, and year of birth also for estimating win chances.
- Link to the GLTA World Tour (optional) — name and membership number for the check; we store your GLTA profile ID and name and the tournaments you save. For the notification "New tournaments in my regions" we derive the regions from your matches and entries in the last 24 months, otherwise from the country in your GLTA profile.
- Matches you record — players and names, ratings, point-by-point log including breaks, result, statistics and date, optionally court and approximate place. A photo of the match stays on your device. We back up finished matches in your account and recalculate the statistics on the server. If you pick a friend as opponent or partner in a free match, they get a notification after it ends; the match only appears in their list once they confirm it. If the match comes from an ÖTV draw, the app attaches it to the draw after it ends, with result, statistics and your display name as the recorder.
- Own tournaments (from older versions only) — name, place, participants and results. The app backs them up in your account; people you invite to a tournament see its members and results.
- Live matches ("Live now") — while you record and sending is on: score, names of both sides, for ÖTV matches the player numbers, tournament, which players have a MatchPoint account, your display name and the times of the broadcast, but no place. For matches from an ÖTV draw or a GLTA tournament, sending is preselected, for free matches and for youth and kids events it is not; you can switch it per match. Plus the cheers and comments (up to 500 characters) you leave on live matches and on team championship fixtures.
- Social features — posts with text, photo and result, comments, likes, tags and mentions, friendships, blocks, and reports of content with a reason, including reports of live matches and their comments.
- Private notes on opponents (optional) — up to 280 characters about an ÖTV or GLTA player (see section 3).
- Saved players and tournaments — who and what you follow. This triggers notifications, e.g. about scheduled matches, results or "playing now".
- Calendar (optional) — if you subscribe to your tournaments in your own calendar, we create a secret link and store it with the app language and the time it was last fetched. When your calendar fetches the link, we deliver the tournaments you entered: name, date, venue and address, competition, your doubles partner where applicable, entry deadline and your first match time. If you turn on invitations, we store the address they go to (otherwise your account address) and, per tournament, which invitation, update or cancellation we sent.
- Team championship (if you are on a team list or a captain) — availability per match day, readiness for the season, interest in competitions, roles in squad and club, line-ups and season planning, meeting point, car pools (starting point, time, free seats), results from the court and notes. Captains can enter an answer for players who have not replied; it is marked "by the captain", and your own answer always takes precedence.
- Notifications — your device's push token, the platform, the app language (so that notifications arrive in German or English) and the delivery status. The notifications themselves (title, text, target in the app) are kept in your inbox.
- Usage and app version — when you open the app (at most every four minutes) the time, the app version, the platform and whether you got the app from the store or as an APK. The server replies whether a newer version exists, and the app then shows a notice. We keep only the latest time, version and platform. After backing up a finished match the app reports whether it succeeded.
- Searches and look-ups — when you search for ÖTV players or open a player profile, we store the search term or player number and the time with your account. This lets us limit look-ups per account and see how much load we put on the federation. We count failed attempts with licence or membership numbers so that nobody can try out other people's numbers.
- Choice of federations — which federations you pick at first launch and which state federations your tournament calendar shows. If you pick a federation that MatchPoint does not support yet, we store this with your account and count it to decide which federation to add next.
- Approximate location at match start (optional, off by default) — a coarse place name (e.g. "Innsbruck, AT") on the match and in its backup so you can identify it in your history; you see it on the result card and in the match record. It does not appear in live broadcasts or on the draw. Your operating system's location service (Apple or Google) derives the place name from your approximate position. We store no coordinates and no movement profiles. You can turn this off in Settings at any time.
- Photos you take or choose — before uploading, the app downsizes them and removes metadata such as the place they were taken; if an image cannot be cleaned this way, the app does not upload it.
- Technical data and crash reports — see section 5.
Without an account: MatchPoint no longer offers starting without an account. If you still use the app from an older version without an account, your recordings stay on your device only; once you sign in, the app assigns them to your account and backs them up. Even without signing in, the app sends crash reports (section 5) and checks for updates (section 7).
On your device the app stores your sign-in, your settings, your matches and a snapshot of your dates, ratings and match days so that it also starts without a network. When you sign out, it removes the sign-in; your matches stay on the device, even after you delete your account, until you delete the app. The app creates calendar entries and shared images or texts on your device; you decide where you pass them on.
3. DATA ABOUT OTHER PLAYERS
MatchPoint shows signed-in users data from the portal of the Austrian Tennis Federation (ÖTV, run on nuLiga) and from the GLTA World Tour (glta.tournamentsoftware.com): name, club, ÖTV player number or GLTA ID, membership number and country, rating (ITN, rankings, points), matches and results, tournament entries including waiting lists, draws, schedules and team lists. Age and year of birth are also stored: the app shows the age on the player profile and uses the year of birth only to calculate win chances. The data comes from these portals, for the ÖTV partly from areas that only signed- in portal users can see, and it also covers minors. We process it so that players can assess opponents, tournaments and teams (legitimate interest, Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR) and update it regularly from the portals. From tournament entries and team lists we also work out where someone ranks with their ITN in their club, their state and Austria, and how players are spread across the ITN classes. For this we store, without the name, the player number, ITN, federation, club and the number of team matches in the last twelve months, and for a sample of players also the date of their first and latest rated match; only players who played in the last twelve months are counted. We pass player searches on to the ÖTV portal without any link to your account. If you do not want your data to appear in MatchPoint, you can object: support@matchpoint.lol.
What users enter about others:
- Matches and posts may contain the names of partners and opponents.
- Live matches show the names of both sides, for ÖTV matches also the player numbers, and the score. Anyone who follows one of the players gets a notification. For youth and kids events sending is off by default, and there are no cheers or comments on fixtures of youth teams.
- Recordings attached to ÖTV draws show score, result and statistics of both sides.
- Private notes on opponents are visible only to their author, not even to the person described. Please do not write anything disparaging and nothing about health or other especially sensitive data.
- Captains see the answers, roles and notes of their players, including players without the app, and can answer for them.
- If you share line-ups, match-day sheets or polls, e.g. via WhatsApp, they contain names from the team list and the car pools, for results also those of the opponents, plus the meeting point and the captain's notes, but no rating and no year of birth. You are responsible for passing them on.
4. WHO SEES WHAT
- All signed-in users: your profile (display name, photo, club, text about you, rating) and, if you linked the ÖTV, your player number. Others can therefore tell that an ÖTV player has a MatchPoint account and see your photo next to your name. If you linked the GLTA World Tour, the same applies to users with GLTA access.
- Technically retrievable: through the app's interface, signed-in users can currently also retrieve the other details of your profile that the app does not show to others: when you last used the app, app version and platform, your in-app settings and, if present, the ID and name of your GLTA profile. The stored year of birth of ÖTV players can be retrieved the same way.
- Posts: depending on the visibility you choose, all signed-in users, your friends and those of the other people involved, or only you (default: friends). People who took part in the match always see the post, people who are tagged see it unless it is for you only.
- Matches: you and the other players who appear in the match with their account. Others only see a match if you share it as a post or result card.
- Photos: profile photos and photos in posts are kept in storage from which an image can be opened via its address even without signing in. The address contains a random ID and is not listed anywhere publicly, but it can be passed on.
- Live matches: ÖTV matches are visible to all signed-in users, GLTA matches only to users with GLTA access, free matches only to the recorder's friends. Cheers and comments are visible to everyone who sees the match, on team championship fixtures to all signed-in users. You can delete comments on your live match (on a fixture, each of its captains can), and your own comments at any time. Recordings attached to ÖTV draws are visible to all signed-in users.
- Team championship: availability, line-ups and answers entered by captains are visible to the players you share a team list with and to the captains of your teams; meeting point and car pools to the players and captains of the team concerned. Your squad role is visible to your team, the note on it as well as your readiness for the season and your interest in competitions only to the captains. Results from the court are visible to all signed-in users. Club sports officers see everything a captain of each team in their club sees, captains see the season planning of all teams in their club.
- Federation data: ÖTV player data, tournaments and draws are visible to all signed-in users, team lists, fixtures and tables of the team championship only to users with an ÖTV link. Data about GLTA World Tour players is visible only to users with a linked GLTA profile.
- Only you: your email address, the details from your ÖTV link other than the player number, your notes, saved players and tournaments, notifications, and search and look-up logs.
- We as the operator have technical access to all data. For operations and support we see, per account, the name, email address, sign-in method, last sign-in and use, app version, platform and links, as well as crash reports, backup reports and reported content.
- Calendar: anyone who knows your calendar link sees the tournaments you entered as described in section 2. If you renew the link in the app, the old one stops working. Invitations only go to the address you enter.
- Website matchpoint.lol: if someone opens a shared link without the app, the page shows at most what is in the link (team and club, tournament or date) and the way to the app. It reads no data from our database.
5. TECHNICAL DATA AND CRASH REPORTS
So that we can find and fix errors, the app sends technical reports to our server:
- Crash and error reports: app version, operating system, the screen last opened, the error message and the affected place in the code. The app replaces names, IDs and invitation codes in the screen path with placeholders.
- Start signal: the app version at every start.
- Sign-in problems with Apple or Google: error code and text, device model, system version and app version. For Apple the app also reports a successful sign-in, so that we can tell failures from a broken diagnosis.
These reports contain no account ID, no email address and no name, and we do not assign them to an account. The app sends them even when you are not signed in. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in a working app (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). You can object (section 9); the app has no switch for this.
When you use our servers and the website, the providers technically process your IP address, the time, the address requested and the identifier of your browser or app (user agent) in server logs. When you sign in, our authentication service stores the IP address and user agent per session until you sign out or delete your account.
6. LEGAL BASES
- Performance of the usage contract (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR): account, profile, matches and their backup, links, social features, live matches, notes, team championship, notifications, calendar subscription and invitations, and the notice about new versions.
- Consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR): notifications on your device, approximate location, camera and photos, each via your system's permission, which you can withdraw in Settings at any time; signing in with Google or Apple.
- Legitimate interest (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR): crash reports and server logs, protection against misuse (limits for look-ups and failed attempts), statistics on usage and app versions, the federation data in section 3 and the names of other people in matches, live matches, recordings and notes.
7. PROCESSORS AND RECIPIENTS
We run MatchPoint with carefully selected service providers that process data only on our behalf:
- Supabase — database, authentication, file storage, server functions and crash reports (EU data centre, Frankfurt)
- Resend — delivery of sign-in codes and, if you turn them on, calendar invitations by email
- Expo — delivery of push notifications and app updates. At start the app asks Expo for a new version and sends a random installation ID, the platform and the technical version of the app.
- Netlify — hosting of the website matchpoint.lol (this policy, pages for shared links, the page for getting the app)
Other recipients: Apple and Google for signing in with Apple or Google if you choose it, for delivering notifications to your device (title and text, e.g. names and results, pass through Expo and Apple or Google), for the place name of the approximate location and for the store rating dialog (your rating goes directly to Apple or Google; we learn nothing about it). Search terms of the player search go to the ÖTV portal without any link to your account. Links to other services (ÖTV, GLTA, map apps, App Store, Google Play) open their pages, where their privacy policies apply. We do not sell data or share it for advertising. MatchPoint shows no ads and does not track you across apps or websites of other companies.
Expo, Resend, Netlify, Apple and Google are based in the USA, and Supabase belongs to a US company; data may therefore be transferred to the USA. Such transfers are based on the European Commission's adequacy decision for the EU-US Data Privacy Framework where the provider is certified under it, and otherwise on the European Commission's standard contractual clauses.
8. RETENTION
- Account, profile, links, choice of federations, posts, comments, notes, saved players and tournaments, own tournaments and your team championship details: until you delete them or your account.
- Backups of your matches: until you delete the match or your account.
- Calendar link, setting and record of invitations: until you renew the link, turn invitations off or delete your account; the record of invitations sent until your account is deleted.
- Notifications in your inbox: until you delete your account.
- Live matches with cheers and comments: 30 days after the last change, unless you delete them earlier.
- Recordings attached to ÖTV draws: until you withdraw them; after an account deletion they remain without your name.
- Last use, app version and platform: only the latest value.
- Reports on match backups: 90 days.
- Search and look-up logs including failed attempts to link the ÖTV: 30 days; after an account deletion without any link to your account.
- Failed attempts to link the GLTA (time only): until you delete your account; the next failed attempt removes those older than two days.
- Crash reports: 90 days.
- Push token: until you turn off notifications, sign out or delete your account. If the delivery service reports a device as unreachable, we stop sending to it.
- Sign-in sessions: until you sign out or delete your account.
- Server logs of our providers: according to their periods, usually a few days.
- Federation data: as long as it is listed in the portals and needed for the app.
- Data on your device: until you delete the app.
If you delete your account, we remove your account, profile, profile photo and photos, posts and comments, likes, friendships and blocks, live matches with cheers and comments, notes, links, saved players and tournaments, own tournaments, notifications, push token, sign-in sessions, the backups of your matches and the team championship details tied to your account (availability, car pools, interest, club roles). What is tied to your ÖTV player number (readiness, line-ups, answers entered by captains, squad roles) stays with the team. Matches you recorded remain without any link to you so that other players keep their statistics; your name in them is replaced with "Deleted player", and it no longer appears on recordings of ÖTV matches. Reports of content and results from the court that you entered remain without any link to your account. What other users entered about you, such as names in their matches, stays with them. Database backups at our hosting provider are overwritten on a rolling basis, currently after seven days.
9. YOUR RIGHTS
You have the right to access, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing, data portability and objection. Where we rely on our legitimate interest (sections 3 and 5), you can object on grounds relating to your particular situation. You can withdraw consent at any time with effect for the future. You can lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority, in Austria the Datenschutzbehörde (Barichgasse 40-42, 1030 Vienna, www.dsb.gv.at). Delete account — directly in the app: Account (your profile photo at the top right) → Account management → Delete account. This removes your account and the associated content irreversibly (section 8). Beforehand you can save your matches and the other data on your device as a file under Account → App settings → Export data.
10. CHILDREN AND MINORS
As in our terms of use, an account with MatchPoint is meant for people aged 16 and over; anyone younger needs a parent's consent. The app does not ask for your age. The federation data in section 3 also covers children and minors, e.g. from youth tournaments and team lists. The same rules apply to them: player profiles show the age, not the year of birth, and they or their parents can object by email. Live broadcasts are off by default for youth and kids events.
11. CHANGES
We update this policy when the app or legal requirements change. The current version is always available at this address.
